658,000 war dead remembered on Copley

6,580 red flags decorated Copley lawn on Wednesday. Each flag represented one hundred coalition soldiers or Iraqis who have died in the Iraq War. The Interfaith Council and the Muslim Student Association (MSA) co-sponsored the event. The groups also held a candlelight vigil on Wednesday night to pay respect to the dead. In front of the White-Gravenor steps, leaders from the many religious groups that make up the Interfaith Council stood in a line in front of about 30 students. “Everyone on this campus has become desensitized to this conflict,” MSA President Abed Z. Bhuyan (SFS ’08) said.
