March for D.C. Voting Rights

If last month’s March Madness-filled march to the White House left you hungry for more, D.C. Emancipation Day offers the opportunity to relive the magic of Pennsylvania Avenue all over again—this time for a real cause. If you’ve been crushing on Mayor Fenty or you’re looking to meet guys in converse sneakers or disenfranchised, angry locals, this is the place to be.

_Where/When: April 16

2:30 p.m.—Freedom Plaza (Metro Center)

3:00 p.m.—March down Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.

4:00 p.m.—Rally at the Capitol Reflecting Pool (Federal Center Metro)

What it’ll cost you: nothing—exactly how much your vote is worth in the District._

D.C. Comedy Festival

Genocide, the Final Four loss and ants in the Leo’s drink dispenser—tragedy surrounds us. All the more reason to spend a weekend laughing it up before finals start. If you’re looking for a girl with ‘a good personality’ or a guy who makes his own YouTube videos—this is where you need to be.

_Where/When: April 12-14, at venues throughout the district, including the Warehouse Theater Complex, FLASHpoint!, and HR57.

What it’ll cost you: A student weekend pass will cost you $35 and get you into shows all weekend; a one-day student ticket is $20._

D.C. International Film

Festival

Amelie was six years ago, guys—it’s time to get familiar with the modern face of French cinema. And there’s nothing like sharing a tub of popcorn with a stranger to get those pheromones flowing. Especially great if you’re into wannabe directors, guys with accents, or filmophiles in general.

_Where/When: April 19-24. Films will be shown at locations throughout D.C., including Busboys and Poets, Lincoln Theater, National Gallery of Art, Regal Cinemas and the Greenberg Theater. Check the web site for more information: http://www.filmfestdc.org.

What it’ll cost you: $9._
