Hey there, thanks for visiting. This wonderful section of the internet is Halftime, a part of The Georgetown Voice, Georgetown University’s weekly newsmagazine. I’m Chris. I’m the editor-in-chief here at Halftime. In my spare time, I edit the sports section of the Voice. This past summer, I was thinking about the kind of content on the internet that I really love reading, and realized that while reporting and recaps are necessary, analysis with a touch of humor is the kind of writing that really grabs my attention. With the limitations of space in the print edition, as well as the scope of content on Vox, there wasn’t space for writers to give their own takes on subjects throughout the sports world. So, I thought of creating a site that would be based around longer columns that would address all corners of the sports world. This way, writers would get to write about their interests in formats that differ from the traditional print column. They also get to use gifs and footnotes, and who doesn’t love footnotes? But, sports is only half of the content here at Halftime. As sports is an entertainment industry, I thought it would only make sense to bring in analysis for others segments of the entertainment world. The other half of the site falls into what is called “leisure” here at the Voice. This content addresses what is traditionally known as “arts and entertainment.” Our leisure section covers everything from movies to comic books. If you’re looking for what has happened in the worlds of music, television, or any other things that you look to for entertainment (no, not actually “anything”), look at our leisure section. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the site. I have a great team here and hopefully their work will make Halftime a regular spot on your strolls through the web.
