After getting off to a slow start during a rugged schedule, the Georgetown women’s lacrosse team (6-5, 4-0 Big East) is riding a four-game winning streak. The Hoyas have beaten Yale, along with three conference foes in Connecticut, Cincinnati, and Louisville, to bring their record over .500.

Mired in a season-long slump, the Georgetown women’s softball team (9-28, 3-2 Big East) decided to forget about the past and focus on the Big East grind that awaited them. That philosophy paid dividends two weekends ago when they started on a run through the conference against Connecticut. They took one of two games and got their confidence back in defeating quality opponent.

A 1-4 start in any sport usually marks the start of a futile season. For the twentieth-ranked Georgetown women’s lacrosse team, however, it signals a confident beginning. Georgetown’s poor record is the result of the gauntlet the Hoyas had to face at the start of the season.

With the Big East Championships on the horizon, Georgetown’s track and field team is poised for a breakout meet. So far, this season’s races have all been in preparation for the beginning of the postseason with this weekend’s Big East Championship in Akron, Ohio.

Before Tuesday night’s game against South Florida, Georgetown women’s basketball head coach Terri Williams-Flournoy pledged $50 toward breast cancer research for each three-pointer made by her team. The Hoyas (20-5, 8-3 Big East) made their coach pay a hefty price with their hot shooting from behind the arc leading to a 67-38 blowout.
