For the first time, the Georgetown University Board of Directors will require all faculty and staff to participate in an online harassment education program, titled “Promoting a Respectful Campus Community.”

Rosemary Kilkenny, the Vice President of the Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity and Affirmative Action explained that although no specific instances of discrimination had been reported, recent changes in the District’s harassment laws inspired the new policy.

Much like the alcohol and academic honesty training programs for incoming freshmen, the new harassment and discrimination training program assesses knowledge about the issue. A series of theoretical dialogues and vignettes specific to the Georgetown campus follows.

Faculty members seem largely unconcerned about the new program; every professor contacted either did not respond or declined to comment.
