For all the drama kids who can’t get no play, the Folger Center has come up with an innovative way to get your bard on with ENGAGE, a new discount ticket program for the younger set. Under the new system, patrons aged 17 to 25 are eligible to receive periodic discounts and special offers to Folger events, like theater, music, and poetry and fiction readings.
If you’re scratching your head and wondering what mediocre chain coffee has to do with the Bard, take note: The Folger Center has nothing to do with French roast, and everything to with the life and works of the world’s most respected playwrights. But it’s more than just a library—it also houses the Elizabethan Theatre, an intimate indoor stage featuring rafters, multiple levels, and plaster-and-timber walls meant to evoke the London Innyards where Shakespeare’s plays were sometimes staged.
Just as a rose by any other name would smell as sweet, Will’s plays would be just as great at a fraction of the ticket price. So act now to snatch up tickets for their first offering: $10 tickets to Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale for performances on Friday, February 27, at 8 p.m., or Friday, March 6, at 8 p.m.
