The Halftime Report: Week of 2/22

February 22, 2016

With the weather finally starting to warm up, this is the week to go out. Go to a concert, see a play, do something else. We don’t care what it is, but going out is fun, and you should do it. We’ve got the best to do in D.C. in this week’s Halftime Report.

Album Releases:

Painting With – Animal Collective, Release Date: 2/19

The 10th studio album from the experimental and psychedelic pop band is sure to be as catchy as it is strange.

Need Your Light – Ra Ra Riot, Release Date: 2/19

Ra Ra Riot’s brand of baroque pop draws comparisons to other groups like Circa Waves or Neon Trees.

This Unruly Mess I’ve Made – Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Release Date: 2/26

The follow up to the widely successful and critically acclaimed The Heist, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’s second album will need to be pretty extraordinary to top the first.

Movie Premieres for 2/19:

Gods of Egypt

Featuring Game of Thrones’ Nikolaj Coster-Waldau alongside Geoffrey Rush and Gerald Butler, this fantasy epic tells a story of the ancient gods of Egypt. The god Set (Butler) conquers Egypt, bringing on a reign of terror. Mortals must join forces with the god Horus (Coster-Waldau) in order save the world.

Eddie The Eagle

This biographical sports film comedically retells the story of  Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards, the first athlete to ever represent Great Britain in Olympic Ski jumping. Edwards is played by Taron Egerton; the cast also includes Hugh Jackman and Christopher Walken.

Triple 9

Triple 9 is a heist thriller with a star-studded cast that includes Aaron Paul and Norman Reedus among many others. A group of criminals are blackmailed into performing a daring heist and kill a police officer.
